Traffic Festival required a printed booklet for their upcoming event. The festival focuses on re-imagining public domain essays, articles and images – exploring the world of the past through art, design and culture. After some consultation we agreed on a custom-sized 28 page saddle-stitched booklet on 150gsm coated gloss paper.
I was supplied with all the copy, a general outline of content and an enormous selection of raw images to use in the layout. This large project involved a lot of indesign work using custom baseline grid systems, parent pages, font styles and tables. The colourscheme is limited to approximately 8 core colours to help with uniformity.
The magazine masthead is the only graphic embellished with a shiny black varnish. This helps create typographic hierarchy across the cover. The back cover is a stylised portrait image I made combining different effects in Photoshop.
I had these booklets expertly printed and saddle-bound at Worldwide Print South Brisbane. After the print version was approved all the content and layout was manually redesigned into a condensed 20 page PDF format for digital use.
